Debbie, Bill, Carly, Carter, and Grandma arrived on Friday evening for a lovely dinner and birthday celebration. They brought along a strawberry cake that was four layers high and covered in sugary pink icing. Cake is probably my favorite dessert followed closely by ice cream. I don't usually like the two together though. The cake is finally gone and for that, I am thankful. I don't have much self-control when it comes to cake and feel an intense craving for a piece after a meal when I know the dessert is in the house.
I turn 32 years old tomorrow. I've been accidentally saying that I'm 32 for about 6 months now so it won't be a difficult transition. I'm going to get a massage tomorrow for some self-care and then get ready for the grand return to work on Tuesday. I will miss the many faces of Peanut during the day.

The hat is courtesy of Pop. It's supposed to keep water out of his eyes when washing his hair. I put it on him and promptly tried it out. It doesn't quite seal around the forehead and water went all in his eyes. I felt terrible. Not as bad as yesterday though when I was snapping him in the car seat and he looked down at just the wrong moment and his little chin/lip got pinched. Again, terrible feelings.
I am exhausted this evening. We enjoyed the company, but ended up staying up until 11:30pm each evening. That is way too late when waking up during the night to feed Hunter. Thankfully, Jared is still taking the first feed and then we have been switching off getting up with him in the morning.
Two mornings ago, Hunter was just exhausted after his morning playtime with Jared. I asked what they did and Jared told me that they had stuffed animal wars in which "two stuffed animals go in, only one comes out." Thank goodness for fathers. I am a fun person for sure, but I would not have come up with stuffed animal wars and what little boy wouldn't love that game?
