damn hot

Noooooooo!!! Let it not be Sunday night already! The weekend came and went in a flurry.
Melissa arrived on Friday evening and joined Jared and me for a beautiful meal of chicken tikka masala at Cafe Rakka. We then headed back to house to plan the rest of our adventures which largely centered around food.

On Saturday morning, Melissa and I had a rockin' meal at Hattie B's hot chicken shack. Melissa went with the hot chicken and I went with the damn hot. Let me tell you, I usually want more heat, more spice, more something in food. The heat that I request at restaurants is often just a few shades lite of what I really want. Not so at Hattie B's. Not so. I couldn't even eat the crusty skin and felt the burn all the way up to my ears when I ate the juicy chicken that had simply absorbed the red hot spices. Next time I'll just go with the hot although it's way more fun to order something "damn hot."

We then moved on to making french onion soup grilled cheese courtesy of Joy the Baker served with sweet potato fries and followed by cobbler purchased at the downtown Farmer's Market.

Today was a lazy day at the house. We made use of the sunshine yesterday and stuck close to the warm house today as the temperature dropped and the rains came in. We decided on Friday night to make doughnuts from scratch and thankfully Melissa noticed that it takes about a million hours for the dough to rise so that I didn't wake up Sunday morning thinking that we were headed for a doughnut breakfast.

No, we indulged in 5pm pre-game doughnuts and then I indulged in 7:30pm mid-game doughnuts and who knows what the evening holds...

Weekends are far too short especially when a friend is in town.
