updates

Have you ever seen the movie Nemo? I love the part where Dory sings, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming." She seems so happy and content even with the solid understanding that just has to keep on keeping on. I don't really know what brought that to mind. Maybe I related it to the sermon I heard this morning about Jesus walking on the water towards his disciples. Who knows. Jared and I visited First Baptist Church of Hoover this morning. We were the youngest people there by a good 30 years. I loved the service though. All those good hymns and the little choir just slightly off key and half a beat behind. Made me feel at home, like the services we went to when I was a kid. I've loved my time at The Church of Brookhills, but I must say it was refreshing to be in a place without all of the lights and great sound equipment and props.

So, I just keep cooking, just keep cooking. I am in love with risotto. I just love watching the rice absorb all the chicken broth or tomato juice or white wine. I love how creamy and wonderful the whole thing becomes. I'm working on the whole creativity thing as well. I made up some black beans with brown rice yesterday for lunch. Naturally healthy, naturally boring. Bam! I added some sauteed onions, mildly hot peach salsa, and sour cream and oh-yeah. Naturally healthy, naturally awesome.
