vanilla bean

New dish this evening: lemony ricotta pancakes. Awesome. They were so lightly sweet and so wonderfully fluffy and the granny smith apples cooked down and dumped on top made the perfect little dinner. That and a side of bacon. I love bacon. I love crispy, crunchy, salty bacon. Especially next to pancakes and sweet fruit. I really just don't know who I am. No, I still don't load up with butter and syrup, but here's to a good breakfast for dinner. Again, all my thanks go to smitten kitchen.

So, I am becoming increasingly thankful for my "sniper shopper" technique as I plan this wedding. As many of you know, I am not a browser, a looker, a meanderer when it comes to shopping. On the contrary, I enter, I scan, I find, I buy, I leave. It's always been a very simple process to me. An old friend of mine referred to it as "sniper shopping." I liked that odd little phrase and it stuck. I chose a photographer for the wedding and she complimented me by saying I had the quickest response time. I asked her if the date was available, she said yes, I said great, let's book it. Then, today I was at dreamcakes for a wedding cake consultation. Doesn't that sound fancy? Again, I opened the book of pictures, flipped through, saw the perfect cake (square with flowers) and said great, let's do that in orange and pink. Wala! Cake is booked. Love it to pieces and didn't have to spend time at five different stores comparing tastes and designs. I just don't want to do that. I'd rather spend my time writing about how I don't have to nor want to do that. So there. Another one bites the dust (in a not sick, killer sort of way).

For all of our training in 'building the relationship' and 'romancing the merchandise,' clients like you who come in, know what they want and say 'This is it. I'll take it. And also in black, if you have it...' are often a welcome relief. Cut and dry, simple as that, nobody's time is wasted with prolonging the decision and offer options, options, options. Love it.

Glad to see you're still in the kitchen. Our kitchen gets packed this weekend (!).
