stripes

I have a couple of favorite decorations from last weekend's shower. Roy (my mother-in-law's husband) created the little baby and carriage below out of fruit. It was adorable.

Then, Vicki (my mother-in-law's best friend) created this awesome diaper creation of a teddy bear driving a tank. Impressive is all I can say.

In other news, Jared and I traded the fantastically awesome, lifted jeep in for a...

sparkly, comfortable truck complete with seat coolers and warmers.

It wasn't exactly a hard or easy decision. We loved the jeep very much and have wonderful memories of wheeling in the mountains with our Birmingham friends. However, we weren't wheeling any more (something about pregnancy and an impending infant) and the jeep isn't a comfortable ride with the lift and mud tires. So, we decided on a roomy truck that feels like riding on clouds compared to the jeep. It is a big thing to drive and I'm still getting used to even parking the truck. Jared is quite happy to have a truck again and it is lovely to throw something dirty in the back or be able to haul a piece of furniture.

I probably get as attached to cars as I do to homes as many hours of one's waking life are spent in a car zipping around. I've only had three cars in my 16 years of driving. I adored the old red truck. I spent ten years with the red jeep. And now, I'm quite fond of the XTerra. I plan on keeping it for many more years if possible.

I am now almost 36 weeks. I feel very pregnant and even some of my maternity clothes are getting short as I expand outwardly. I love feeling Hunter give me good strong kicks. He is quite partial to wiggling his toes underneath my right hand rib cage. I feel like I can hardly breathe these days and the urge to pee is quite constant. Half the time I'm starving and dreaming of the next meal and the other half of the time I feel totally stuffed and throat-clogged.

The nursery is finally coming along. I'll post pictures soon. I had to wade through dozens of thank you notes before I would let myself really unpack the gifts. Even with the gifts written in a book, I was afraid I would forget which gift was which. We have been blessed with much.

It's a lovely Saturday afternoon with sunshine. I've got Scout sleeping on my left and Zoe on my right after our (slow) walk this morning at the park. Yeah, I'm walking differently too. Some might call it a waddle, but that sounds so unbecoming. All I know, is that I cannot move like I used to!
