Elvis as a potato

There are many, many wonderful things about getting married. I love being married to Jared. I love the commitment, the vows, the safety, the promise. I loved planning the wedding and being surrounded by so many people that I hold dear in my life. I loved the wedding dress shopping and the photos and the dancing and the parties. I knew we'd get wedding presents, but I had no idea how many boxes and packages would appear in my hands and on our doorstep. It was such fun! Like Christmas every day! I have to admit, it was sad when the boxes stopped arriving.

There are many, many wonderful things about being pregnant and having a baby. (I bet you can guess where this is going.) There's the hopes and dreams, the excitement and anticipation. There's the wonder (and pain) of my body creating another human being, our son. There are the sweet moments of prayer when my brothers offer up thanks to God for the addition to the family. There's the tender moment of Ryan's little hand on my belly hoping to feel Hunter's kick. The fun of hearing Jared say "goodnight baby!" And then. Then, there are the presents. It's like Christmas every day again. The unexpected box of diapers on the front porch from Grandma and Pop because Pop found a great deal on Amazon. The beautiful crib that I hope promises many good nights of sleep for Hunter. The sweet little stuffed animals that make me wonder which will be his chosen, favorite toy. And then there are the just plain cute or just darn hilarious gifts. Please see below.

A homemade sleep slack with matching hat.

An Elvis Mr. Potato head.

A pacifier complete with mustache from my brother, Brad.

Balloons with Hunter's name on them.

I mean, seriously, what fun! I am constantly blessed with thoughtful, funny people in my life.
