Hearts to you

Jared, Scout, and I went hiking at Rickwood Caverns today. Hiking is actually a very generous word. We'd never been to Rickwood, but it's close to our house and it costs $1/person to get in. So, we headed out on this bright and chilly day to the lovely little state park. The problem with Rickwood is that the entire two hiking trails add up to 1.75 miles. That's it. We first headed off on the 0.5 mile trail only to learn upon completion that the trail is closed as we came to a nice rope and a closed sign. Someone just forgot to block off that other pesky end of the trail. We then headed off to tackle the 1.25 mile trail. Jared was hungry for our little picnic snack lunch shortly after starting this trail so we ate with a glimpse of the parking lot through the trees. And then it was over. I doubt we'll go to Rickwood again, but I do love a new adventure. I've never thought of 1.75 miles as a hike. More like a walk.
