My mother recently went to Grandparent's Day at Hayden and William's school. Hayden gave my mother a card that said, "Thanks for giving me my Dad." Can we talk about how not only sweet, but insightful, that is!? I've loved watching my nephews try to figure out how everyone is related. My mother alone is called mom, gramcracker, and Myrtianne. I go by Alison, Aunt Alison, honey, and silly pickle. I remember Ryan started calling his mother 'Jackie' and appeared totally confused when he was told he could only call her 'mom' or 'mommy,' but everyone else could call her 'Jackie.'

My mom recently sent me this quote by Liv Ullmann, Norwegian actress & writer:
"I am an onlooker on my daughter's dance. I'm not part of her dance. Yet wherever she takes a pause and needs someone to talk to, I am there. But tht special dance with the child and the future is hers."
I think she sent me her wisdom without even knowing she was doing so.
