Gulf Shores

We're home again. Jared and I are enjoying being home a week and then gone a week. This time "gone" meant a few days in Gulf Shores with Jared's family. We had a great time and came away wishing for another two days at the beach. I found that the typical three day trip felt jam-packed when accompanied by an infant who needs constant love, care, food, and attention. Thankfully, we had help from the family, but the mornings were earlier than normal on a vacation and the dinner meal was eaten a little more hastily when Hunter was on the decline nearing bedtime.

Jared's cousin, Carly rode in the car with us on the way to the beach. She adores Hunter and is my constant helper in carrying the diaper bag, loving him endlessly, and handing out clean diapers. They held hands for much of the ride.

And took a nice long nap together.

Hunter did not love his beach hat and sunglasses, but did adore sleeping with the breeze in his hair and the sound of the waves lulling him to sleep. He napped like a rock at the beach waking only to eat with eyes still half-closed.

He simply made the rounds for person to person so Jared and I could play in the waves and sand with the cousins and get a little sunburn after using the spray on sunscreen that never works right, but is so tempting each year in the ease of application.

The boys and I also did a deep sea fishing trip on Friday. It was rainy and bumpy, but we still had a great time and caught a decent number of fish. It was the longest I'd been away from Hunter at 8.5 hours and his little head smelled so sweet when I returned.

Now we are home again with five weeks of maternity leave left. We have a few more adventures planned before the realness returns.
