It's a rainy Monday here in Hendersonville. I'm glad to not have to fight traffic into downtown in the wee hours of the morning. Instead, Hunter (usually affectionately referred to as "Peanut") and I have been hanging out. We spend our most specific "Mommy and me" time in the morning as that is when he eats the most and is wide awake. This morning we read some stories and had some talks which means I talk out loud to him about what's in my head.
I actually got a little bit of sleep last night. We decided to move Hunter into his crib at night so that I don't hear every noise he makes all night long. I still quickly hear his cry when he needs me, but then I actually sleep between feeds. This means there's no bassinet beside the bed to trip over and I'm not constantly shining my iPhone light into his face to make sure he's still breathing (the absence of this probably helps him sleep better too!).
He's gaining weight and eating like a champ. Please see exhibit A below of the adorable chipmunk cheeks he's working.
He has also kept his crazy little head of reddish brown hair. I do comb it, but he styles it very specifically in the night to his liking.
The kid has a closet full of clothing and he's gained enough weight that he can actually sport a few things now. He looks proud of this "boy genius" onsie.
This is our favorite cuddle position. It originated because it helped him burp and pass gas and morphed into a snuggly little position where he can hear my heart beat and I can kiss his sweet head.
Hunter will be one month old on Wednesday. Unbelievable that he will be a month old, that a month could have already passed, that I kept him alive for a month, that Jared and I survived a month of sleepless nights (!!!), that I've been gone from work for one month, that a quarter of my time away from work is already over (shed a few tears over that yesterday while changing little sweet buns diaper), that time marches on relentlessly and gracefully.
