the last one

I feel like my writing is blocked lately. Nothing super exciting to write about, nothing funny coming to mind. Except that Scout has learned that it's fun to tip over the laundry basket, steal undies or socks, and run around the house with them waiting for us to chase her. Except for the fact that Jared and I have made friends with three little black boys in the neighborhood. Their names are Micah, Elijah, and Vincent. I've been loving the warmer weather and the fact that the sun is sticking around longer in the afternoons. Jared and I take Scout on a walk each afternoon and get some exercise and allow me to unwind from my day. Jared doesn't need the unwinding as much as I do. I guess the telephone wires aren't as emotional and needy and complicated as my patients. Anyway, all the neighborhood kids are enjoying the weather as well and there's nothing like a cute dogie to help with new friendships. Micah, in particular, has his eye out for us and comes running to say hello, chat it up, and play with Scout. Most recently, he asked if he and the other boys could come over to our house. I casually mentioned that we needed to keep walking Scout. I would love to invite the kiddos over for milk and cookies and some mario on the wii. However, the world doesn't really work that way. At least not any more. Probably wouldn't be good for us to invite three young boys into our home! But, we'll keep enjoying our sidewalk interactions til it's time to go home for dinner.

It was a hard day today at work. It was one of those days when I'm tired of feelings and analyzing. Mainly, it was one of those days when I'm tired of learning the hard way. Bradford and life seem really keen on having me learn the hard way lately. Ugh. Manual of life por favor!
Seriously though, I had thoughts of shutting the planner, grabbing my purse, and sticking a post-it note to the door on my way out that said either "because I had to" or "don' call, don't write" or "we'll reschedule the crazy ass family session for another day next year." Probably would have gone with that last one.

Remember how I started with my writing blocked? Sometimes all it takes is to start.
