I am going to talk stereotypically about gender roles, so if easily offended regarding this matter, please come back another day for another posting.
On Friday I went to Christmas village with Karen (J's mother), Grandma (J's grandmother), Debbie (J's aunt), and Connor (one of our five nephews). I'm getting into the Christmas spirit early this year apparently and I'm quite excited to have my own little house to decorate.
Please see exhibit 1 below: Lines of women (all women) waiting for the doors to Christmas village to open. It's 8:45 am on a Friday morning.

Please see exhibit 2 below: This is adorable little Connor. He was one of the few males in attendace at Christmas village. He got there bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to have his picture made with Santa.

Please see exhibit 3 below: This is Conner part-way through the day. Ready for a bottle (of milk or beer depending on how many more hours of shopping are ahead of him). Note the glassy eyes and the "you've got to be kidding look."

Please see exhibit 4 below: Conner passed out. Hoping to block out the sound of women ooohhhhing and aaahhhing over the next cutest snowman outfit.

That was Friday. Jared and I went to Blue Spring Manor on Saturday night for a little getaway night at the greatest bed and breakfast around. We walked into the adorable little room and Jared asked, "Does it have to be purple?" You see, a couple of weeks ago, I planned this little trip "for Jared" as a surprise. Ha! The same way each football game is an expression of Jared's love for me. We ate dinner in the beautiful dining room with soft music and fresh flowers. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was scrumptious. Jared mentioned that Cracker Barrell also has a really good breakfast. We had a really good time and I know Jared loves to see me happy just I do him. There was something about disappearing for a night with my husband. I didn't answer the phone. I didn't do a dish. We got to talk and rest and eat yummy food and watch a movie. It's not that my life in my sweet home is difficult. It's just that there's always a chore to be done or an email to respond to. I don't think it was Jared's idea of the ideal getaway, but it sure is mine. It's a good thing that men and women are different because it sure keeps things interesting and fun.
