Zoeeeeee

Remember Zoe? Well, she's still around, but she almost wasn't. About a week ago, Mom got overwhelmed so she packed Zoe up and took her back to Love at First Sight. Luckily, Mom got all upset and started crying and brought Zoe back home. Fast forward to Wednesday morning around 9:30am. Zoe is again packed up and back at Love at First Sight. Mom actually leaves her this time and by Wednesday evening was regretting the decision. Mom and I were at the Grand Ole Opry listening to beautiful songs mostly about love gained and lost and I noticed that mom is getting teary-eyed. I thought she was upset about Dad until Mom leaned over and said, "I miss Zoeeeee!" She thought she might just be sad because it was night-time which lends itself to more sadness for her on a regular basis. However, Thursday rang out and Mom's desire to get Zoe back was strong. We staged Operation Get Zoe Back although we weren't hopeful about the success of the mission as 10 week old Zoe is adorable and was probably already living with another family. Our only hope was that Zoe had to go to the vet on Wednesday morning for a small boil which might have kept her out of the public eye. I called and left a message on the owner's cell phone because Mom was too embarrassed to make the call. Five hours later we learned with relief that Zoe had not been adopted by another family. Zoe had been at the vet all day Wednesday and then the store was closed on Thursday. I came home today to find Zoe racing around the house, wreaking delightful havoc, as Scout chased after her. Once something is added, it's hard to take it away without feeling a major loss.

I had another baby die in the NICU on Wednesday night. It was my fifth baby and I think about what a tremendous loss that must be for a family. To have something added and then taken away. I can't even imagine the pain.

I am going back to the Grand Ole Opry this evening with Jared and Amy from Detroit. I love the Opry!
