"When the devil is knocking, let Jesus answer the door."
I saw this on a church sign on Sunday. You know, the sign out by the road listing the Sunday school time, the service time, the pastor's name, and the inevitable quote. I think this is a southern thing. A deeply southern thing. Perhaps, even a southern Baptist thing. I love these quotes. They make me giggle. I wonder who dreamed up these silly little phrases and how much traffic they actually bring into the sanctuary. I'd love to drive around sometime just taking pictures of the signs for a nice blog post. However, in the absence of pictures, here are a few more sayings for your widespread enjoyment.
"Don't give up. Moses was once a basket case."
"Are you wrinkled with burden? Come to church for a faith lift!"
"Give Satan an inch and he'll be your ruler!"
"Be fishers of men. You catch them and He'll clean them!"
"Walmart isn't the only saving place!"
Off I go to work. After work, I'm gonna stop by this church. It said something about a free trip...
"Win a free trip to Heaven! Details inside."
