Let's talk about weddings. They are truly bizarre. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about all this. Maybe I'm supposed to be ecstatic. I'm not sure. At least we're through all (hopefully) of the family drama that came with the word "engaged." I almost ran screaming to the hills on more than one occasion. I mean, the whole thing is exciting, but also taxing. I like some of it. I like my engagement ring. And the wedding dress, which I got back from the alterations lady on Saturday night and have checked on nightly since that time. Just to make sure all those ruffles are still ruffled. I think the whole thing will be wonderfully magical. It's just a good bit of work to get to the magical.
However, let's also talk about presents. (Actually, when I say "let's talk," I simply mean listen to me jabber on.) So, I'm registered at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, REI, Williams-Sonoma, and Macy's. I can (and do) go online almost nightly to see what has been purchased for my enjoyment. Is that weird or strange or selfish or compulsive or something? Because it is definitely not normal. And it is definitely not okay to feel indignant when there has not been another gift purchased since I checked 24 hours ago. Sometimes this whole technology thing is really bad. Really, really bad. I totally had to put the computer down a couple of years ago and walk away because I was taking facebook stalking to a new, advanced level. Looking at pictures of people I did not know. Feeling bad about my life because my pictures were not as good, as fun, as awesome as other people's pictures. Feeling bad because I wasn't out last Friday night even though I hate that place any way. It was exhausting to sit on my bed and play on the computer. Exhausting. And unhealthy. I'm not ready to give up the online registries though. They call to me. Did you hear that?!
I hope everyone makes a registry at some point. Because there are things to register for that I didn't even know existed and I want everyone to discover them so we can make fun of them together. I mean, seriously, a lot of the stuff is cool, but where on earth would you store it all? There are individual tools for almost every fruit and vegetable...avocado seeder, mango seeder, apple slicer, strawberry huller, tomato slicer. Maybe it's all great or maybe we've all forgotten how to use a good knife or a solid set of teeth.

Um...I soo checked mine everyday when I was getting married too. And there are still two or three things bought off my BBB registry that never made it to me. I don't know if they got lost, the buyer decided they wanted to keep it for themselves or it was a computer error. As long as it's not the second....
Maybe all those fancy tools are for people who cook for a living....but they probably just use a knife and laugh at the people who fall for the gimmick-y things.
Miss you.
I am still waiting for the Calphalon wok that was purchased off my BBB registry... we finally broke down and bought a cheap one in the meantime, but the enamel is flaking off... 6+ months and counting. Where o where is that gift?
