It started one day in my office when I became overwhelmingly hot and grabbed the nearest trashcan for backup support. Sharron's exact words were "I'm not saying a thing." A week later I almost plowed over the nurse case manager on the way to the bathroom which was graciously and unusually vacant.
I took a couple of tests and just like that, a baby was rocking along inside me.
I am now 16 weeks (and 1 day if anyone besides me is keeping an exact count). The adorable sticker on my stomach says 16 weeks, but I underestimated how little the sticker wording actually is. I'm guessing that my bright friends can figure it out since I'm smiling obnoxiously and pointing at my stomach region.
Jared and I saw the baby for the first time on the ultrasound today. The baby gave a little wave and then flipped over. It is absolutely stunning to think that a baby is doing front flips inside me and I can't feel a thing yet.
I get asked how I'm feeling on a fairly frequent basis. I'm going through a few good days. I worked through the nausea and the I'm-starving-but-can't-figure-out-anything-to-eat-besides-bowls-of-pasta phase. I've moved beyond just eating carbs and have balanced out the diet a bit again. I'm more tired than normal and definitely more emotional. Seriously, I cried in church when my nephew played the recorder with three other kids. I mean, it was cute but certainly not that cute! It's odd, especially since I'm just not much of a crier in general.
We got our first outfit of adorable yellow with ducks. I just love this picture of a closet with one outfit and a few blankets. So crisp and clean with sweet expressions of love through gifts. We've already been given so many great hand-me-downs! We know just enough people a decade older who are done having kids and are ready to purge their closets.
In other exciting news, our Birmingham house is sold! We are single home owners and have finally unloaded the Birmingham vacation home that we just never seemed to frequent.
