Glorious

Cooking weekends with Melissa are really something special. I love them and Jared loves them. He doesn't cook, but he loves the new creations. I love them because Melissa and I cook so well together. We like trying new things and offer moral support for coloring outside the lines of our combined cooking experience.
Melissa and I tried the Marlboro man sandwich off of the pioneer woman's website. I was so looking forward to it after reading about it for so long. However, it was a disappointment. It needed so much much more. I would have preferred just the buttery bun with the cheese we added.

 Thank goodness for round two.
Oh yes. Figs are really something special.

I found this little recipe on a new-to-me blog, 'we are not martha.' I love cooking blogs. Love them. I love the ease of google in getting me straight to a site without having to purchase a magazine or cookbook.

Please go buy figs right now and caramelize them with sugar, sea salt, balsamic vinegar, butter, and lemon juice. Then, top them with vanilla Greek yogurt. (Then, grab a toasted bagel and clean off the bottom of the skillet with the fig jam goodness-what?! Who did that?)

I snapped a few pictures of the fresh produce and pumpkins from the farmer's market in between recipes. I love my new camera!

Finally, pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Yep, that's right! Fall is here and pumpkin is in. Thank you, Smitten Kitchen for this one.

I generally stick to the original recipe for the first try. I would definitely make these cinnamon rolls again. I would double the pumpkin though. I wanted a punch of pumpkin and got a hint instead.

It's been a lovely weekend. The weather here was glorious. The food was yummy. The pansies are planted. I am trying to stay grounded in Sunday evening as Monday morning comes hurdling towards me.

He loves most of the new creations, we should say. ;-)
