We're approaching the big birthday time. Amy B's is January 16, Melissa B's is January 18, Jared's is January 20, and Connor's is January 22. So, don't be surprised if you walk by me and I wish you a happy birthday. I'm just trying to cover my bases around here.
Unfortunately, I will be out of time for Melissa B's celebration. So, we had our own weekend partay. We ate dinner at Cafe Dupont on Saturday evening. The food was delicious and we looked pretty fabulous. Please see below. Also, please note that Scout helped herself into another photo and struck a pose at just the right moment.

We allowed the car to be valet parked at Cafe Dupont and unfortunately, this quickly gave away my "I don't eat at fancy restaurants very often" status. In fact, I don't think I've ever had my car valet parked. The young man opened my door, I stepped out, received a little slip of paper, and he went to get in my car and drive away. I said "It that it?" As in, seriously, you hand me a slip of paper and I let you drive off in my paid for 2008 XTerra which gets me to work daily? Next, the hostess took my jacket and handed me a little plastic chip with the number 23 on it? I had to wonder if I was the 23rd idiot who allowed the hostess to head out the back door with her favorite jacket after receiving a plastic chip worth 0.0003 cents. I wondered what was next. My wedding band, my engagement ring, my credit card, my checkbook? Take whatever you want. Just hand me a slip of paper or plastic and we'll call it even.
Melissa and I spent today cooking and eating. We made cookin' canuck's hearty chicken stew with butternut squash and quinoa for lunch followed by her nutella and sea salt stuffed sugar cookies. All delicious. Melissa and I have cooked together often and we work together fairly seamlessly in the kitchen.
Happy Sunday. It's almost 4pm and I'm heading toward the 4:30 Sunday evening blues. That's generally what happens on Sunday evening after a great weekend when I get a sinking feeling in my stomach reminding me that Monday 8am is coming.

I didn't know you were out of time on my birthday! Who knew that could run out? ;-)
