The meaning of it all

This, my friends, is the fun shoe friday club. Each Friday I don the same outfit and more importantly, the same pair of rainbow shoes. Kelly puts on her white rainbow shoes. Terri (newest member of the club) puts on her glittery pink and blue shoes. Matt puts on his enormous black and purple shoes. And we greet each other each Friday morning with high five shoe bumps and general feelings of contentment and belonging. Either we are the cool kids or the dorks. I haven't decided, don't really care, and finally realized that it doesn't matter.
I really have the coolest job on the planet. I help people. Go on drug searches and treasure hunts through the woods. Play mini golf in the downstairs office with bouncy balls. Make funny pictures of cats. Watch funny YouTube videos. Laugh a lot. Wear funny shoes. Run counseling sessions. Talk about recovery and happiness and spirituality. Make new friends. Share joys and sorrows. Do paperwork. Go to in-services on how to use the telephone. Paint my office blue. Get into mischief. Flirt with the maintenance workers to embarrass them. Eat apples and peanut butter crackers for snacks. Live on lean cuisines for lunch. Fight alcoholism and addiction. Daydream through staffing. Sign my name to notes at least 30 times a day. Go to supervision to learn how to be a better counselor. Pray. Meditate. Hope. Laugh some more. Cry a little. Spray the rug with bleach. Watch the air-conditioner spit water on the nearest victim. Hide treasure maps. Be nice to people I don't like. Try to win over the one girl who refuses to acknowledge my presence. Hope for the best. Pray some more. Hope some more. Love some more.

Sounds delightful in a not-so-easy way.
