Moving!

There is just nothing like moving. I really do think it's one of the most stressful things a human can go through. A home is usually a sanctuary for me. A safe place where there is order and protection from the chaos. Not so when moving! We spent Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon carrying, boxing, unpacking, organizing, haphazardly throwing things away, sweating, and thanking the wonderful folks who helped transport our belongings from one spot to another. Among other adventures, I wore the same outfit three days in a row. You see, what had happened was, I wore the outfit to work on Friday. We planned to go back to the apartment on Saturday for my other clothes. We ran out of time to do that so I wore the outfit again on Saturday and then to church on Sunday morning until we got to the apartment on Sunday afternoon. Awesome, isn't it. I also ate out seven times in the last seven days. I like eating out now and again, but man, I am ready to eat at home! Again, the pot was here, the food went bad or there wasn't any, I forgot the frying pan, the oil spilled, you name it, it was just easier to eat out for a week. Tonight though, black bean tacos with feta slaw. The other great adventure was the underwear. Jared and his grandfather and friend, Adam, moved all of my furniture from the apartment. I met them at the house and walked outside to say hello. Adam called me over and asked if I would please gather up my unmentionables from around the trailer so they could move the furniture. The top drawer of the dresser had opened spilling underwear all over the trailer. There were undies hanging from the handles of the spin bike! I was quite embarrassed. Don't love it when my undies are blowing in the breeze for all to see!

We are headed to Nashville next weekend to get the rest of my stuff and then we should be moved in completely. We need to paint a bit and clean, but we are headed in the right direction. Jared took a bunch of pictures of the house for me so I could show it off. However, the battery died and I can't find the charger. In one of those boxes somewhere.....

I have a dishwasher! Of course, I forgot to buy dishwasher soap because I haven't bought any in about three years, so I did dishes by hand for a couple of days! However, I got some yesterday and loaded the thing up with really dirty dishes to see how well the sucker works. I ran it while I was sleeping and tada! The dishes are clean this morning. Hooray!

It's weird to live in this house. For one thing, it's enormous to us. Jared said it feels like we're at the beach hanging out. Except that checkout came too early, we have to go to work, and no one picked my towel up off of the floor for me! It really is big though. We actually have a place to put our stuff! I had no idea how much stuff we had. Where does all of the stuff come from? I feel like it just appears, crawls under the bed at night. I had to take a break from moving yesterday because I was getting fed up with all of the stuff and was throwing too much away. I had to lay down the summer clothes that I will want to wear again and step away.

Off to work!
